Roots That Run Deep

Is Your life rooted in Jesus? He gave all so that we could one day have life eternal. We can never repay the price He paid. One tree, plus one life freely given, plus a Savior risen, equals freedom from an eternal prison.

The roots of a tree run deep into the earth and anchor the tree in soil. This stabilizes the tree and allows it to absorb water. The day that Jesus gave His life on the cross,  three nails pierced the tree of life. The Son of God’s crimson sap ran down His trunk and soaked deep into His creation. 

I wonder if God looked forward from creation to the cross and saw the crimson blood of His Son mix with the dust of the earth. I wonder if when He reached down into that very spot, and ever so delicately scooped up that dust with which the first Adam was formed, if that was the same dust that our Savior’s blood would one day be shed on.

God knew Jesus’ blood would one day be the atonement needed for all mankind. He knew it would be needed to save a wretch like me! 

Jesus, Thank You for willingly laying down Your life to save mine! Thank You for roots that run deep!
