  • Trusting God’s Voice When Others Disagree

Sometimes the hardest part of walking with God is not hearing His voice, but choosing to trust it when others do not. Scripture reminds us that discernment often stands alone while experience, confidence, and majority opinion speak loudly. Trusting God’s Voice in Acts Chapter 27 In Acts chapter 27 Paul is on a journey. This is not a journey of pleasure. He is a prisoner bound for Italy. Paul was in the company of Julius, a centurion. Paul warns Julius and the crew of impending danger. He tells them if they continue ahead with the voyage as they intend great loss would lie in their path. Paul was not the only one on the ship giving advice. Many voices floated through the air. The shipmaster and the ship owner among others. Julius heeded the shipmaster instead of Paul. He would have had much experience and skills in navigation. It's understandable why Julius would have chosen to listen to him instead of Paul. The owner of the ship had financial interest to worry about so he would have obviously wanted the voyage to continue no matter the cost. The majority of the ship voted to continue despite Paul's clear warning. " Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5–6 Free Verse Card Download Trusting God’s Voice Versus Experience Experience looked good in the moment but experience does not equal spiritual discernment. Paul had heard from God. He had walked with God long enough to know God’s voice and understand the gravity of not heading God’s warning. Everyone on the ship had confidence in the experience of those in charge. I'm sure the ship master had made this journey many times before. However, not even the ship master could see what lay ahead. The storm that awaited them was life changing. Trusting God’s Voice as Women Walking with Christ This portion of Paul's journey is a great example to remember as we women forge ahead in our journey with Christ. We must remember experience, great numbers, and confidence in no way compare to discernment from the Lord. Paul had heard from heaven. He knew what was right but those around him chose to disregard his wisdom. We can’t force others to walk close to God and seek discernment but we can choose to honor God, live the example with our life, and pray for others to do the same. Trusting God’s Voice Through Obedience Paul spoke the truth to those around him calmly and he lived what he believed. Those in control of the journey had a choice. They chose contrary to God’s instruction. Paul had no choice in his location but he had full control of his obedience to God. Ladies, people will dismiss us. Even those closest to us, but we must stay obedient to God no matter the cost to our personal comfort. God gives us clear direction in His word; it's our job to choose to listen, follow through, and be the example that will lead others to Jesus. I pray this encourages your heart and strengthens your walk with God. • Transform Your Morning Routine: 3 Truths for Building Your Prayer Life

Starting the day with God sets the tone for everything that follows. As Christian women seeking to deepen our relationship with the Lord, building our prayer life is not just a routine but a vital spiritual discipline. I have found that beginning each morning in my prayer closet, wrapped in scripture and prayer, transforms my heart and mind. The Bible offers timeless words to guide us in this sacred practice. Let me share three truths that have helped me strengthen my prayer life by starting first thing in the morning. Truth 1: Begin with God to Set Your Heart Right The first moments of the day are precious. When we begin with God, we invite His presence to lead our thoughts, decisions, and actions. The Bible encourages us to seek the Lord early: "But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble." — Psalm 59:16 Verses like this remind me that morning prayer is not just a habit but a declaration of trust in God’s protection and mercy. When I enter my prayer closet at dawn, I quiet my heart and focus on His promises. This practice helps me resist the distractions and worries that often flood my mind as the day begins. Practical step: Choose a consistent time each morning to enter your prayer closet. Even if it’s just 10 minutes, use this time to praise God and ask Him to guide your day. Starting with God means making Him your first priority, not an afterthought. Truth 2: Use Scripture to Fuel Your Prayers Scripture is the foundation of effective prayer. When we pray God’s Word back to Him, our prayers align with His will. God's word offers rich, poetic language that can inspire and strengthen our faith. For example: "This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." — Psalm 118:24 I often begin my morning prayers by reading a verse like this aloud in my prayer closet. It reminds me to rejoice and be glad, no matter what challenges the day may bring. Using scripture in prayer helps me focus on God’s truth rather than my fears or doubts. Practical step: Keep a Bible or a list of favorite verses in your prayer space. Read one or two verses slowly and meditate on their meaning. Then, use those verses as the basis for your prayers. For example, if you read Psalm 23, pray about God’s guidance and comfort throughout your day. Truth 3: Building a Rich Prayer Life Requires Consistency and Patience Building a rich prayer life is a journey, not a quick fix. It takes daily commitment and patience. Some mornings will feel easy and full of peace; others may feel dry or distracted. The key is to keep returning to your prayer closet and begin with God each day, trusting that He is working in your heart. The Apostle Paul encourages us: "Pray without ceasing." — 1 Thessalonians 5:17 While this verse calls for continual prayer, it also teaches us to develop a habit of constant communication with God. Starting your day in prayer sets a foundation for this ongoing conversation. Over time, you will notice your faith growing stronger and your heart more aligned with God’s purposes. Practical step: Don’t be discouraged by days when prayer feels difficult. Keep your prayer closet ready and your heart open. Consider journaling your prayers and reflections to see how God answers and guides you over time. Starting first thing in the morning in your prayer closet is a powerful way to begin with God. It centers your spirit, fuels your faith with scripture, and strengthens your commitment to daily communion with the Lord. As you embrace these truths, you will find your mornings transformed and your walk with God deepened. • Is the Spirit of Fear Holding You Captive?

Dear Sister, is fear holding you captive? Understanding the Spirit of Fear Have you been taken captive by fear? This fear does not come from God. His Word is truth, and it plainly says in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God does not give us the spirit of fear. No, He gives us power, love, and a sound mind. The spirit of fear, and the captivity it brings with it, comes straight from the devil. He does not go easy on us. He will use any means necessary to get into our head and place a vice around our heart, mind, and spirit. How Fear Quietly Takes Hold It often starts quietly. You wake up with an unsettled feeling. A few flutters in your chest that you blame on the iced coffee from the evening before. You press through it, and it slowly dissipates, only to return a little more intense around lunchtime while rushing about. It is easy to blame it on stress at this point. Again, it dissipates as you go about the rest of your day. When Fear Attacks in the Quiet Hours Then sleep comes, or so it should, but instead your mind is running in overdrive. This is where the devil has so much fun. That sly voice whispers truth wrapped in lies. That loved one you have been wrestling in prayer for will never change. The marriage a sister in Christ sought advice and prayer from you for is going to end in divorce. The sister you have been ministering to for months, encouraging her to read her Bible and pray, does not really care. Then he follows it all with the thought that this must be figured out before sleep can come. You do not have time to deal with it tomorrow. Your day is already packed. In this way, he effectively steals your sleep, your peace, and your health. Standing Firm Against the Lies  “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10 Free printable prayer helps. Sister, do not fret. The devil is a liar. The God of all grace and peace is on your side. Keep wrestling in prayer. Jesus is so near He can hear your heartbeat and see the tremor of your hand. This ministry may not lay rewards in your lap instantly, but eternity holds the ones that truly matter. Keep pressing on. Keep loving. Keep showing up. It may not seem like it now, but it will be worth it when Jesus takes you by the hand and says, “Welcome home, friend.” A Prayer for Peace and Courage Father, the devil strikes when we are at our lowest, when our hearts are heavy, when life is thrown off course. He plants seeds of doubt, fear, and shame. Father, I pray peace over these sisters today. Please grant them courage and strength to press through the noise and claim victory in Jesus’ name. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen. • When the Secret Place Feels Silent

When the Secret Place Feels Silent in a Dry Season Dear sister, have you ever walked into your prayer space, sat down, and stared at your prayer wall for what seemed like hours with no progress? Are you in this season, this dry barren land, right now? I know this feeling all too well. A chaos of clatter in your mind, yet the secret place feels silent. Moments when you long so badly to reach out and touch the hem of His garment, but instead you have what feels like a thousand marbles bouncing off each other, going all the wrong directions. Click here for free Scripture Printables for Prayer “How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?” Psalm 13:1 Spiritual Distraction and the Battle for Our Minds This is exactly where the devil wants us to be. He wants us filled with the world, especially our minds. It does not even have to be bad things per se, just busy things. He wants the noise to ring louder than the beat of heaven in our hearts. After all, there is not much he has to do himself if we keep ourselves distracted. Why Women Walk Away from the Secret Place This is the point when a lot of women give up and walk away from the secret place. Sister, please do not stay away. Turn around, go back, and stay longer each time. Keep asking, seeking, and knocking on heaven’s door. I walked away too. Do not be ashamed, and do not let the devil tell you there is no use returning. He told me that too. The truth is, he knows you are unstoppable when you really start believing. The Power of Prayer and Authority in Jesus’ Name He does not want you to realize the power you wield in Jesus’ name. You are the daughter of THE KING. You are of a royal priesthood. You have direct access to your heavenly Father. Do not waste another moment in defeat. Pick your armor up and report for duty. Your family needs you. Your sisters need you. Encouragement for Women Walking Through a Silent Season I have walked this path. I am walking it with you. It is not easy, but remember, you are blessed and highly favored in God’s eyes. You are in my prayers. “Prayer is not learned in a classroom but in the closet.” — E. M. Bounds A Prayer for the Woman Whose Secret Place Feels Silent Father, I pray You cast Your covering over this dear sister today. Send strength, encouragement, hope, and provision. You see the struggle she is in, the battles she faces each day. Draw her unto Thee and fill her with Your presence. Less of us, more of You. Thank You, Lord, in Jesus’ name, Amen. • Exploring the Depths of Psalm 139:17 Bible Lesson: Understanding God's Thoughts About Us

Psalm 139 is one of the most profound chapters in the Bible, revealing the intimate knowledge God has of each person. Verse 17 stands out as a powerful reminder of how precious and numerous God's thoughts are toward us. This verse invites us to reflect on the depth of God's care and the value He places on every individual. Understanding this can transform how we view ourselves and our relationship with God. Psalm 139:17 highlighted in an open Bible What Psalm 139:17 Says About God's Thoughts "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!" Psalm 139:17 (KJV) God’s thoughts about us are precious The word "precious" shows that God's thoughts are not casual or indifferent. They are valuable and full of care. This means that God thinks about us with love and attention, cherishing each person deeply. God’s thoughts are vast and countless The phrase "how vast is the sum of them" suggests that God's thoughts are beyond human comprehension. They are too many to count, showing the endless nature of His care and knowledge. Together, these ideas emphasize that God’s awareness and concern for us are both intimate and infinite. Why God's Thoughts Matter to Us Understanding that God’s thoughts are precious and vast changes how we see ourselves and our lives. Here are some practical ways this truth impacts us: We are never forgotten or overlooked Even when life feels lonely or difficult, God’s thoughts are always with us. This means we have constant divine attention and care. Our value is rooted in God’s love Knowing that God treasures His thoughts about us reminds us that our worth is not based on achievements or others’ opinions but on God’s unchanging love. We can find comfort in God’s plans Since God’s thoughts are numerous and purposeful, He is always working for our good, even when we don’t see it immediately. How to Reflect on God’s Thoughts in Daily Life To connect more deeply with the message of Psalm 139:17, consider these practical steps: Meditate on the verse regularly Spend time each day reflecting on how God’s thoughts are precious and vast. This can help shift your mindset from worry to trust. Journal your experiences of God’s care Write down moments when you felt God’s presence or guidance. This practice helps you recognize the reality of His thoughts in your life. Pray with gratitude Thank God for His constant attention and love. Expressing gratitude strengthens your relationship with Him. Share this truth with others Encourage friends or family who may feel forgotten or unloved by reminding them of God’s precious thoughts toward them. Sunlight filtering through trees in a peaceful forest Examples from Scripture and Life The Bible offers many examples where God’s thoughts and care are evident: David’s life As the author of Psalm 139, David experienced God’s intimate knowledge and care firsthand. Despite his flaws and challenges, David trusted that God’s thoughts toward him were precious and numerous. Jesus’ ministry Jesus showed God’s love by healing the sick, comforting the lonely, and teaching about God’s kingdom. His actions reflect the countless thoughts of care God has for humanity. In everyday life, people often experience moments when they feel deeply known and cared for, whether through answered prayers, unexpected kindness, or inner peace during trials. These moments reflect God’s precious and vast thoughts. What This Means for Our Identity Psalm 139:17 invites us to see ourselves through God’s eyes. This perspective shapes our identity in several ways: We are deeply loved God’s thoughts are not random; they are full of love and purpose. We are significant The vast number of God’s thoughts about us shows that each person matters greatly. We are known completely God’s knowledge of us includes our strengths and weaknesses, yet His thoughts remain precious. This understanding can boost confidence, reduce fear, and inspire a life lived with purpose and trust. Encouragement to Embrace God’s Thoughts When life feels overwhelming, remember Psalm 139:17. God’s thoughts about you are countless and precious. This truth offers hope and reassurance that you are never alone or forgotten. Embrace this reality by: Trusting God’s care even in uncertainty Valuing yourself as God values you Seeking God’s guidance through prayer and reflection Let this verse be a source of strength and peace in your daily walk. If this post spoke to your heart and you’d like to press deeper in your prayer life, I’d love to invite you to explore Book one of my devotional series, His Name Is Jesus . • Understanding the Depth of Psalm 91:1-2 in Daily Life

Psalm 91:1-2 offers a powerful message of protection and trust in God. These verses have comforted believers for centuries, yet their meaning goes far beyond simple reassurance. When we engage in Bible study, especially in settings like Womens Bible study groups or personal prayer time, these verses reveal layers of spiritual strength and practical guidance for daily living. I want to share how these two verses can transform the way we face challenges, fears, and uncertainties. Psalm 91 Bible open on wooden table, soft natural light The Text and Its Immediate Meaning Psalm 91:1-2 reads: " He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust " Psalm 91:1-2 (KJV) At first glance, these verses speak about dwelling and trusting . The imagery of shelter and shadow suggests protection and safety. The psalmist declares God as a refuge and fortress, words that evoke strength and defense against danger. This passage invites us to live in close relationship with God, not just occasionally seeking Him but making Him our constant shelter. The promise is not that troubles will disappear but that God’s presence will be a stronghold in the midst of them. Applying Psalm 91:1-2 in Daily Life When I reflect on these verses during Bible study or prayer, I see practical ways to apply them: Dwelling in God’s Presence This means more than attending church or reading scripture occasionally. It means cultivating a lifestyle where God’s presence is central. For example, setting aside daily time for prayer or joining a Women's Bible study group can help build this habit. Dwelling implies permanence and intimacy. Resting in God’s Shadow The shadow of the Almighty suggests protection from harm. In daily life, this can mean trusting God when facing anxiety, illness, or difficult decisions. Instead of reacting with fear, we can pause and remind ourselves that God’s protection surrounds us. Declaring God as Refuge and Fortress Speaking these words aloud during prayer or worship reinforces our faith. It shifts our mindset from worry to confidence. I find that repeating this declaration during stressful moments helps me focus on God’s power rather than my problems. How Women's Bible Study Groups Can Deepen This Understanding In Women's Bible study, discussing Psalm 91:1-2 creates a supportive environment where we share personal experiences of God’s protection. Hearing how others have found refuge in God encourages us to trust Him more deeply. For example, one woman shared how she faced a serious health scare but found peace by meditating on these verses. Another spoke about how trusting God as her fortress helped her navigate a difficult family situation. These testimonies bring the scripture to life and inspire practical faith. Bible study groups also provide accountability. When we commit to praying together and studying scripture regularly, it becomes easier to dwell in God’s presence daily. Women praying together in Bible study group, close-up of Bibles and hands Using Prayer to Embrace Psalm 91:1-2 Prayer is a vital way to internalize the message of these verses. Here are some ways to incorporate Psalm 91:1-2 into your prayer life: Personal Prayer Begin your prayer by acknowledging God as your refuge and fortress. Ask Him to help you dwell in His presence throughout the day. For instance, “Lord, help me to rest in Your shadow and trust You fully.” Prayers of Protection Use the imagery of shelter and shadow to pray for protection over yourself and loved ones. This can be especially comforting during times of uncertainty or danger. Gratitude Prayer Thank God for being your refuge in past challenges. Reflecting on His faithfulness strengthens your trust for the future. In my own prayer time, I often repeat Psalm 91:1-2 slowly, letting each phrase sink in. This practice calms my mind and reminds me that God’s protection is real and present. Living Out the Promise in Everyday Situations Psalm 91:1-2 is not just poetic language; it offers a framework for how to live with confidence in God’s care. Here are some examples of how this looks in daily life: When facing stress at work or school , remind yourself that God is your fortress. Take a moment to pray and ask for His peace. During health challenges , dwell in God’s presence by reading scripture and praying regularly. Trust that He is your refuge. In relationships , especially difficult ones, seek God’s shelter through prayer and Bible study. Let His strength guide your actions. When fear or anxiety arises, declare God as your refuge aloud. This verbal affirmation can shift your mindset and reduce worry. Quiet prayer corner with Bible, journal, and candle, high angle view Encouragement to Make Psalm 91:1-2 a Daily Anchor If you want to experience the peace and protection described in Psalm 91:1-2, start by making these verses a daily anchor. Whether through personal Bible study, joining a Women's Bible study group, or setting intentional prayer times, these practices help you dwell in God’s shelter. Try memorizing the verses or writing them down where you will see them often. Let them remind you that no matter what happens, God is your refuge and fortress. The promise of Psalm 91:1-2 is not just for ancient times. It is alive and active today, ready to strengthen your faith and calm your heart. • Living Romans 12:12: Choosing Hope, Patience, and Prayer in Every Season

Romans 12:12 (KJV) says, “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.” This short verse contains three powerful instructions for the Christian life. Each phrase guides us in how to respond to every season of life with faith and spiritual maturity. “Rejoicing in hope” This is joy anchored in the promises of God, not in current circumstances. Hope here means confident expectation—trusting that God is faithful and His future for us is secure. To rejoice in hope means: We choose joy even when we haven’t seen the answer yet We celebrate ahead of the victory We focus on God’s promises and not the problem This joy is rooted in what God has said—not merely in what we see.  “Patient in tribulation” Tribulation refers to trials, hardships, pressure, or seasons of suffering. The verse doesn’t just say “survive tribulation,” but be patient in it. This calls for: Endurance Trust in God’s timing A calm spirit that waits without giving up Faith that God is working even when we can’t see it Patience in trials is a mark of spiritual maturity and deep confidence in God’s character. “Continuing instant in prayer” The phrase means being persistent, steadfast, and faithful in prayer. We are called to: Pray continually Pray immediately when needs arise Stay connected to God throughout the day Make prayer our daily lifeline, not a last resort Consistency in prayer strengthens our hope and sustains us through tribulation. Conclusion Romans 12:12 gives a spiritual roadmap: Look ahead with joy (rejoicing in hope) Stand firm with faith (patient in tribulation) Stay connected to the Source (continuing instant in prayer) This verse invites believers to cultivate a faith that rejoices before breakthrough, endures through hardship, and remains in constant communion with God. Study Questions: Romans 12:12 What is the difference between worldly hope and biblical hope? What promises of God give you the most hope during difficult seasons? How can joy exist even when your circumstances haven’t changed? What practical steps can you take to strengthen your hope in God daily? Think of a time when God came through for you—how does that testimony help you rejoice in hope today? What types of “tribulation” do believers face today?

  • The Beauty of Holiness: How to Worship God with Reverence and a Pure Heart

A study on Psalm 96:9 “O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.” Psalm 96 is a beautiful call to worship that lifts our eyes to the majesty and greatness of God. Verse 9 in particular reminds believers not only to worship God, but how to worship Him— in the beauty of holiness . What does this mean? And how do we walk it out in our daily lives? Let’s dive deeper. “O Worship the Lord…” – The Call to Worship Worship is not optional for the believer—it is a response to who God is. This verse begins with an invitation and command: Worship the Lord. This isn’t about singing on Sunday morning alone. Worship is a lifestyle reflecting devotion, humility, and surrender. It is: Praising God for who He is Thanking Him for what He has done Living in a way that honors His name Worship flows from the heart of someone who recognizes God’s worth. “…in the Beauty of Holiness.” – What Makes Worship Beautiful The psalmist tells us how  to worship— in the beauty of holiness . Holiness is not about perfection—it is about being set apart for God. When we worship with a clean heart, pure motives, and sincere faith, our worship becomes beautiful to God. Holiness in worship means: Approaching God with reverence Removing distractions and idols Offering our lives as a living sacrifice Worshiping with sincerity, not performance True worship is beautiful when the heart behind it is pure. “…Fear Before Him, All the Earth.” – Reverence and Awe The word fear  here is not about terror—it is about holy reverence. To fear the Lord means: Recognizing His power and authority Living with deep respect for His presence Approaching Him knowing He is God, not just a friend The verse reminds us that God is worthy of reverence from the entire earth, not just Israel, not just the church, not just one group—every nation, every people, every generation. Taking Psalm 96:9 Into Daily Life This verse challenges believers to ask: Is my worship sincere, or just habit? Do I honor God with a holy life, not just holy words? Do I approach God with reverence, awe, and respect? Daily application could look like: Beginning each morning with prayer and Scripture Repenting when our hearts drift Worshiping through obedience, not just singing Living in a way that reflects God’s holiness Worship is not a moment—it’s a lifestyle. Conclusion Psalm 96:9 reminds us that the most beautiful worship is not about the sound of our voice or the style of our music—it is about the purity of the heart offering it. May we be believers who worship: With clean hearts With reverence With awe With lives devoted to God Because worship becomes beautiful when the worshiper is surrendered. Study Questions According to Psalm 96:9, what does it mean to worship God “in the beauty of holiness”? How can believers model holiness in their everyday lives, not just during church or prayer? Why is “fear of the Lord” connected to worship in this verse? How does reverent awe deepen our relationship with God? What distractions or habits might be hindering your worship from being sincere and God-centered? What practical steps can you take this week to worship God more intentionally and with a purified heart? How does this verse remind us that worship is not just a moment, but a lifestyle?

  • From Tragedy to Triumph: Ruth’s Story and the Power of Choosing God

Where Did Your Story Begin? Where did your story begin? Did your journey begin in a season of triumph or tragedy? Many of the stories in our life are birthed through tragedy, but God does great and mighty things through them. The book of Ruth is one of my favorite books in the Bible. It is the perfect example of how God can take a season of tragedy and turn it into a season of triumph. Ruth was a Moabitess. The day Ruth married Mahlon, though she still lived in Moab, she walked into a foreign land spiritually. She had been raised completely different than Mahlon had. The God she served was not the God her husband's family served. A Season of Loss Ruth’s life as a wife to Mahlon tragically ended roughly ten years later. Her world came crashing down around her in an instant. She became a widow overnight and she had no heir to preserve her future. I can't imagine what she must have felt. She had dedicated a decade of her life to this man. She was now walking into an unknown future once again. When Life Feels Like a Foreign Land During the first year of my marriage it felt like I had walked into a foreign land. My life as I had known it was suddenly completely different. I married young. I had all these dreams and aspirations for marriage but I never considered the small everyday things in my life that would change. My days were no longer centered around only me, now I had another human to fit into my day. I loved my husband deeply but the struggle of change spun fiercely inside of me. I had so much to learn about life. It was extremely hard for me for several months that first year in our modern world. I can't imagine being in Ruth's shoes in her day. The Power of a Faith-Filled Decision When the season of death came to visit, Ruth had a decision to make. Would she stay or would she go? Ruth chose to go. She chose to leave everything she knew, everything familiar to her behind, and follow the God of her mother-in-law. She made the right decision. God blessed her greatly for choosing Him. He led her to Boaz, the kinsman redeemer that would change her forever. When Change Comes Unexpectedly Friend, what do you do when change comes unexpectedly or tragedy strikes? It is sure to come to all of us at some point. Life changes quickly at times. It can come by no fault of our own, but it can also come by our own doing as it did me through my choice to marry young. My struggle of change in my early months of marriage was obviously nothing compared to Ruth’s at that time, but it was still hard for me to process. Friend, we must do as Ruth did. We must choose to follow God. A Faith That Follows “Whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.” — Ruth 1:16 (KJV) Ruth left all she knew, she left all that was familiar to her, but most importantly she left a false religion and ran to the one true God. God took Ruth’s tragic moments of her first marriage and transformed them into beautiful new beginnings. He can do the same for us if we choose to follow Him and trust Him with our life. • The Power of "Seek Ye First": How to Transform Your Rushed Morning into a Rich Time with God

Rushed Mornings and the Disconnection from God What do you do first thing in the morning? What is the first thing that comes to mind the moment your eyes open? Before I devoted my mornings to Jesus, my mind would immediately go to my phone and a nice hot cup of coffee. For most of my early years as a Christian, my thoughts were on the many tasks I had to complete before noon. My mind was racing with productive things to do before I even moved a foot from beneath my sheets. My mornings were so rushed, I didn't realize how disconnected I was from God.  Many times, our preacher has mentioned the wonderful benefits of starting our day with God. I was convinced I was doing that by sending up a short prayer for God to watch over me, bless my day, and watch over my family. Short and sweet. Sometimes, I would even throw in a Bible verse or two a few days a week. I felt God nudging my heart to dive deeper with Him, but I listened to the reasoning of my flesh instead of the truth from God's heart. After all, how was this mom of three rambunctious girls supposed to carve out time to give God her full attention?  Finding Grace: When Everything Began to Change It was many long years before I stepped into grace and asked God to help me find time in my busy day. When I did, things began to change. I began to find random moments throughout the day to steal away and read my Bible. One of the first things God revealed to me was that He comes first. There should be nothing before Him. I pondered these verses, that I was slowly packing in, and through God’s gentle nudge, I decided to start journaling my thoughts.  I hated journaling and I failed miserably. I have many "started" journals from these first few years. I learned a lot during this time and I had a lot of growing to do. I continued to try to journal through the years, and improved greatly, but I did not enjoy this time as I should have. It was after a trial of great sickness, and the loss of my husband's grandmother, that I fell in love with journaling.  The "Pasta Notes" Method: From Jumbled Thoughts to Focused Prayer I call these early years of learning to journal my thoughts “pasta notes.” My mind was so jumbled, I had to figure out a way to organize my thoughts into prayers. I viewed my mind as a big bowl of tangled spaghetti.  I would pull one pasta thought at a time out of my bowl and write it down. After I had my thoughts listed, I would pick one and start talking to God, through pen and paper, about each thought. This changed how I viewed prayer and journaling so much. I could stay more focused and have more to talk about by journaling this way. Pen and paper became my new best friends. Eventually, my prayer time became rich and filled with the presence of God. It is one of my greatest blessings. I wish I had realized the value in this simple act years earlier. Prioritizing God: Living Out Matthew 6:33 Every Day The Bible says in ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬‬‬, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” This means to put God first in all things, no matter who or what doing so may effect. I asked myself, "If I do not start my day with God, then who/what am I putting before Him?" So I decided to devote my mornings to God. I now spend several hours in prayer, journaling, reading scripture, and learning from other great authors who have come before me. Wisdom from the Past: Authors to Deepen Your Morning Devotion Authors like C. H Spurgeon, Andrew Murrey, C.S. Lewis, E.M. Bounds and many more. Their wisdom has helped me so much in my walk with God and journey of prayer. We are the best version of ourselves when we keep God first priority in our life.
